Head over to Mrs. 4444's to check out more Fragments.
I saw this little meme over at I Know, Right?! and stuck it in my pocket for just this kind of day. I might be fudging, calling my answers Fragments but in a way I think it works... Meme answers are always fragmented because there's usually a lot of backstory to them that rarely gets said. Anyway, Mrs. 4444 will surely politely admonish me if I've fragmented incorrectly.
1. Hottest movie star?
I'm not too much of a movie watcher but I like Johnny Depp (dressed as a scummy pirate), and Natalie Portman (with a shaved head.)
2. Apart from your car and house, what is the most expensive item you have ever bought?
I hate to call him an "item," but the answer is Baby Jean (aka Mr. Bun), a white & brown lop rabbit. If you learn NOTHING ELSE from reading this goofy blog, know this: NEVER EVER EVER buy animals from a "pet store." I was young and impulsive and learned my lesson. I've been an adoption advocate ever since. I paid $30 for what I was told was a little girl rabbit. Fast forward a few weeks and I was left holding a newly-neutered little boy rabbit and a $700 vet bill for services related to bringing a dead baby rabbit back to life. He'd come away from the pet store with a belly full of parasites and other unpleasant symptoms. It absolutely broke my heart to think of the other 10 rabbits that were at the pet store which almost certainly weren't going to receive care.
Animal companions are not disposable.
Domestic rabbits should be House rabbits. They aren't pocket pets. They take as much care and effort as DOGS. Do your homework, people.
3. What is your most treasured memory?
Is it kind of sad that I don't really have one? I think I'm supposed to say my wedding day, or some birthday or something but the one that really comes to mind is leaving our house in Amdo, me and my mother-in-law crying, and she held my face in her hands in a most touching gesture. I was so amazed that this tiny toothless woman so loved me like she loves her own children.
4. What is the best gift you ever received as a child?
A love of reading. My mom took me to the library at an early age. I participated in summer reading programs, and we were limited in how much tv we could watch. Bedtime was reading time. Thanks, ma!
5. What is the biggest mistake you ever made? Taking out student loans.
6. 4 words to describe yourself: Earnest. Unpolished. Caring. Hopeful.
7. What was the highlight/lowlight of 2008?
Lowlight: majour relationship drama.
Highlight: Getting a new job.
8. Favorite Films? Fight Club. Harold & Maude. Peter Pan. Gandhi.
9. Tell me one thing I don't know about you. I originally had no middle name. When I got married, I took my maiden name as my middle name to honour my father. I didn't want to lose his name.
10. If you were a comic book/strip cartoon character, who would you be? I've got no idea. I don't know much about that genre.
