I'm currently writing at you from my new little Chromebook. My ancient laptop is showing signs of near demise (blue screen of death, unreliable power cord) so I decided to head to my local big box electronics retailer and pick up an Acer Chromebook.
My verdict so far: good! All I had to do was take it out of the box and plug it in and BOOM, I was online and browsing in no time. One drawback that I didn't consider... since it has no traditional operating system, I can't download the FitBit software that syncs my FitBit with the website. So that's a little disappointing. I can still use my FitBit but I won't get any reports or badges. Way disappointing. I'll download it on my folks' computer and just sync it once a week, I guess. Anyway, the rest of everything seems easy and intuitive. It is small... a bit bigger than a netbook but the keyboard is just the right size. And of course it's easily transportable.
My evening actually started at the T Mobile store. I'd stopped in to see if I could get a new battery for my phone because it wasn't holding a charge. Well... guess what... they don't replace batteries. They sell you a new phone. So, I walked away with a Prism... a smartphone a little smaller than the original one but good nonetheless. I had no intention of buying a new phone but wasn't willing to do the research to see if I could find a replacement battery from T Mobile online. Lazy!! Anyway, the new phone works fine except the fellow at the store downloaded all my FACEBOOK contacts into the phone instead of the phone numbers. So I'll have to do that manually (I think) and that's fun.
A new phone.
A new computer.
Ha! Like I have money for any of this! I'm going to have to do some serious number crunching on Wednesday!
In other news, I got some great mail today... 2 letters from friends including Winnie's Girl, postcards from the Orphaned Postcard Project, and the book Good Mail Day! I'm looking forward to curling up in bed with Good Mail Day shortly.
