February Simple Woman's Daybook

Outside my window... a quiet neighbourhood street lined with beautiful craftsman-style homes and unique apartment buildings. The lettercarrier has come and gone and left me with mail to answer.

I am thinking... about how to better organize my craft supplies. They are everywhere, in boxes and baskets and drawers. I lose track of all the fun stuff that I've collected. On the flip side, when I do find something I haven't seen in a while, it's like a nice surprise.

I am thankful... that my toothache has largely gone away.

In the kitchen... the sink has been shined and the skillet is on the stove waiting to help me cook lunch. Will it be ma po tofu or jaipur veggies with paneer?

I am wearing... one white sock and one striped sock, a knit grey calf-length skirt, a grey t-shirt, a navy blue hoodie, steel grey eye-glasses, and a rocking faux-hawk.

I am creating... envelopes out of found objects like a girl scout cookie box (Trefoils), a musical score, and bingo sheets. (thanks, Tara!)

I am going... absolutely no where. I had intentions of going up to LA to attend a lecture at the Sivananda Center today but I'm so content to just be here at home that I decided to stay in. I've just been puttering around the house, cleaning up, relaxing.

I am wondering... about whether I have all the ingredients to make dresil and khapse tomorrow in preparation for Losar on Monday.

I am reading... Eat, Taste, Heal: An Ayurvedic Cookboook for Modern Living and Savor: Mindful Eating, Mindful Life.

I am hoping... to pack a proper lunch for each workday next week. Lately I've been just throwing whatever was transportable into my work bag instead of packing a good, balanced lunch in my Laptop lunch box or tiffin set

I am looking forward to... getting up at the proper
Ayurvedic time each morning this week. It's progress!

I am learning... to like ginger.

Around the house... the sink's been shined, the tea kettle is on the flame, stacks of recipe cards are waiting to be mailed out to my new LetterMo friends, stacks of mail are waiting to be answered, the sunshine is pouring in through open windows.

I am pondering... getting this haircut

A favorite quote for today...

"I am here now, I appear among you filled with love and affection for each and every one of you....From now on, no matter where you go, no matter what you do, I will be waiting for you, I will be ready for you, I am prepared for you. So relax; be at ease."
His Holiness the Karmapa, 2008

One of my favorite things... SMASH scrapbooking/journaling notebooks. I just ordered my own, in purple.

A few plans for the rest of the week: packing lunches, keeping an Ayurvedic schedule, working overtime, taking more walks.

A peek into my day... an outrageous new card I received from my sister & bff, MK.

Most thankful as well to hear that your toothache has given up the fight!

I love making things out of random things. I recently recycled a bunch of sheet music that was random unmatched pieces, too brittle for any real use. I did save a few pages for projects. Maps are fun as well, old travel brochures...

Sounds like a lovely day.

I love your Simple Woman's Daybook, I have seen similar entries on other blogs and I find they tell so much about a person in the simplest way.

Your entry is the most detailed I have had the pleasure to read I almost feel like I am following along with you. Thanks for sharing your day.

Hilarious... looks like our sisters would get along, lol. And I was so going to buy that book this weekend. Good luck on the haircut. Hubby would never let me get it that short.
